As Christmas rapidly approaches, we look forward to our last concert of 2023. Next year we offer an exciting programme, with solo spots for our inimitable director Mary Eade, Chris sampson on cello and Pam Canter on recorder. A planned collaboration with Somerset Opera is also planned for July, with a performance of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in the Museum of Somerset. Details will be available soon. Meanwhile we look forward to Sunday December 3rd in The Temple Methodist Church, Taunton at 3pm, when we welcome outstanding young oboist Louis Benneyworth, the 2023 Taunton Young Musician. He will play a favourite of the oboe repertoire, the Interlude for Oboe and Strings by Gerald Finzi. The programme includes the elegant Suite for String Orchestra, by Frank Bridge, another of Albinoni's delightful Concerti Grossi, the less often heard Serenade for Strings in romantic vein by American Broadway composer Victor Herbert, and we end with a romp in the snow as a seasonal ender, the Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson.
