what next?
Dear Patrons and Friends,
As we look forward to another great concert tomorrow, I have some news, which I have to share with you. As a founder player when the orchestra was set up in 1982 by Hugh Bushel, I now look back on many years of exciting music making under various musical directors. As many of you know a skiing accident damaged my right shoulder nearly 11 years ago, and it has never fully recovered, despite repeated surgeries. This week I met the consultant, and we decided that further surgery would probably not be the best decision, as my function is reasonable, though not quite up to playing to the standard the orchestra requires. After much heart searching I have decided I must resign as chairman at the next AGM/soiree, which will be in early 2025.
Any suggestions of a replacement will be welcomed! No decisions could be made last evening at a pre-rehearsal meeting of the players.
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow evening - tickets still available!
Best wishes, Robin Carpenter
