Autumn Newsletter
August 2012
We're now on the brink of a new season of activity, with concerts, theatre, Taunton Literary Festival, and many more indoor cultural events starting up again, so there's the promise of good things ahead, whatever the weather!
Continuing our 30th Anniversary Year, Taunton Sinfonietta has two more concerts to offer: the first is on 29 September, in the Temple Methodist Church, Taunton at 7.30 pm. Our President, Allan Schiller, will join us to perform Mozart's Piano Concerto K414, in a programme called "Ebony and Ivory". The beautiful Andante from Tchaikovsky's 1st Quartet in D, the Shostakovich Chamber Symphony in C minor (an arrangement of his exciting and justly popular 8th String Quartet), and the amazing Czardas by Monti (with Mary Eade as soloist) complete the programme.
The finale of our Anniversary Year will be our winter concert - it's on Sunday afternoon 18 November at 3 pm in St James' Church, Taunton. The programme includes Bach's E major Violin Concerto (soloist Mary Eade), Stanley's Harpsichord Concerto no. 5 in A, and a Sinfonia in G by Frederick II, King of Prussia (a fine musician himself, as well as a great patron of the arts).
Do come and join us for these events - as usual, tickets are available from Taunton Information Centre in Taunton Library, tel. 01823 336344, or on the door.
Future dates in the calendar for 2013 are Saturdays 20 April, 8 June and 28 September, all at 7.30, plus a winter concert on Sunday afternoon
17 November at 3 pm. Do make a note of these dates now - programme information will be sent to you early in the New Year.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Anna Bushell
