Taunton Sinfonietta Newsletter - January 2018
We would like to wish you all a very happy, peaceful and musical 2018. The committee has been working hard to plan and promote a new season of concerts and we are looking forward to seeing you there.
Before our season starts, we would like to invite you to our AGM and Soiree which will be held on Sunday 21st January at 6.30pm in the Small Hall in the Music Department at Wellington School. If you have never attended, please do give it some thought as our President, Allan Schiller stated that it was the most entertaining AGM he had ever attended. Apart from the business of the orchestra, there will be musical entertainment provided by Sinfonietta players and friends, and the most amazing Chinese food, courtesy of our Treasurer.
Our season begins on Sunday 11th February in St James Church at 3pm. The concert is called Beautiful Bassoon because it features works for the instrument by Elgar, Spohr and Beethoven, some of which have been arranged by our soloist, Martin Gatt. As if that was not enough, Mary Eade will be playing Beethoven's beautiful Romance in F and the orchestra will also perform Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.
The remaining dates to save are Saturday 23rd June at 7.30 pm, Saturday 22nd September at 7.30 pm and Sunday 2nd December at 3 pm. We have a wide variety of music on offer, as well as some inspirational soloists.
Please keep an eye on the website, "like" our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter (@TauntonSinf) for the most up to date information on Taunton Sinfonietta. We look forward to seeing you all very soon.
